For some time, they supplied their commercial warehouse in London with various Iberian products from there. In 1838, they entered the cork industry and established a cork factory in Alburquerque, Spain, where they lived for 11 years. The business was profitable, expanded, and soon they opened new cork factories in Portugal and Spain.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e The family returned to Portugal in 1850 and settled in Estremoz, albeit briefly. Thomas and his namesake son did not settle down and, driven by the same entrepreneurial spirit, embarked with the family for New Zealand. The crossing would last 130 long days, and with them they carried a huge flock of Merino sheep. They never returned to Portugal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eRobert remained in Estremoz to manage the business, which he quickly developed through the acquisition of new lands and the production of quality wines, an activity he pursued with particular dedication and passion. The Alentejo region became the definitive cradle of the Reynolds family in Portugal, and of Robert, the family patriarch. From this cradle came Robert's eldest son, Robert Rafael, and later, Carlos. Charles had a first daughter named Gloria, Gloria Reynolds.
