In fact, peoples who discovered the riches of the subsoil passed through this region. They explored gold and tin, which were not only abundant but could be extracted using rudimentary methods employed in prehistoric times.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e From tin to wine was a short step. And it is on the left bank of the ancient Pinhão River that the \"Quinta do Estanho\" (Tin Estate) is located, known by the name of the mineral that once proliferated there. After the subsoil was exploited, the next step was the cultivation of vines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eA special edition of wines from Quinta do Estanho has a very particular character. The children and grandchildren of Jaime Acácio Queiroz Cardoso intend, in this way, to pay homage to the man who, in a sense, founded Quinta do Estanho in its new life. It was already known in the 18th century, during the Pombaline land demarcations, as a producer of Feitoria wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cdiv class=\"read-more-content\"\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eIt was also in the hands of the family in the 19th century. When Jaime Cardoso returned from Brazil in the 1980s, after a long stay in that country, he had already decided to reacquire the estate and lead a project to renew and develop Douro and Port wines. And so he did. Little by little, with firmness, he built and consolidated it. The farm began producing wines for large, established, and reputable merchants. It then grew as a \"Producer-Bottler,\" as soon as the laws authorized that status. Finally, it became a \"Merchant.\" It is this journey of tenacity and permanent, essential connection to the Douro that his descendants intend to honor with this edition of special wines and with the desire to contribute to works or institutions of solidarity and humanity. Optimistic and determined, he made every effort on the farm, certain that there is no great farm without a united family. As a father, husband, and grandfather, he dedicated himself to his children and grandchildren, knowing that this was the safest haven. And he never stopped thinking about the Douro, where he came from and where he returned, with his conviction that belonging to a land, having a place and always returning to a location, even with adventures and travels in between, are traits of identity and character.
