Sour cherry from Óbidos Oppidum (with them) 50cl

Oppidus, or Oppidum, is the Latin term that defines a fortified city or citadel. Paradoxically, the walls that surround Óbidos are the same ones that attract so many lovers. And if the entire West could fit in there, this is, on the other hand, its greatest symbol. Obid's heritage does not end with its castle. There is a singular shine that shines in a culture that is very unique. Traditionally rural, the West is the ultimate Portugal of other times, with the deepest roots, which draw on History and Tradition to give shape to what we imagine Portugal once was. There is a kind of passion lost in time that is reacquired in these parts. There is a greater love that needs to be relearned. Óbidos is just an excuse. But it sparkles like no other place.

Description

OPPIDUM

Red since 1987

It's not gold. It's crimson.

When Mr. Dário decided to continue his father's art, he didn't just want it to bear fruit. Previous generations took care of these, selling the local production of sour cherries, famous for their unique quality, to supply the most renowned liqueur producers located (still today) in Lisbon and Alcobaça. I wanted to transform them into a noble product, far above average, without unnecessary additions and frivolities typical of the time, that time when artificial colorings were an added value, proudly displayed in a golden seal on everything on the label.

It was knowledge inherited through oral tradition. It was a burning passion for the land and everything that embraces it. It was the desire to see an entire culture of its own reflected in the ruby tones of the best sour cherry liqueur. On this ridge overlooking the Óbidos Lagoon, an entire West can fit. And it tastes like the Portugal of Other Times.

Oppidum was born, with due humility, in 1987. It did not grow with desires for greatness, but rather with the refinement of the palate of an audience whose demands grow in line with an increasingly vast offering. But where singularity wanes. This will always remain the Oppidum emblem. The best of the best. It's not gold. It's crimson.
