Description

Quinta do Espinho occupies 20 hectares on the mouth of the Távora river with the left bank of the Douro river, the center of wine cultivation in the Douro valley, in the Cima Corgo sub-region, where some of the emblematic port wine farms are located .

Considered one of the greatest wine landscapes in the world, the Alto Douro Wine Region was classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2001.

Its logistical and strategic situation is exceptional, in terms of accessibility and, above all, in the enormous viticultural, landscape and environmental potential in the productions to which it is dedicated.

To the terraced vineyards that extend from the river at an altitude of 195 meters, there is a soil rich in nutrients, formed by laminated pieces of shale that retain the necessary humidity for the vine to survive in the almost arid conditions that prevail during most of summer's.

In 1986, the project of installing new vineyards and restructuring the old vineyard began. In 2010, the winery and warehouse facilities were renovated. Fully respecting the demands imposed by the Quinta's location, in the heart of the Douro region, the buildings from the beginning of the century were restored. XVIII maintaining traditional structures such as stone mills, still used today. The renovation was carried out with the most modern winemaking and storage equipment, in order to guarantee maximum quality and versatility in the demanding winemaking process.
