Description

The first farm has been in the family since 1670. Today there are 4 farms, with 80 hectares in total: Firvida and Além Tanha, Avidagos, Torrão and Varanda. The tradition has always been to sell the grapes to Casas do Vinho do Porto, but from 1996 onwards the first trials for own production began at Quinta dos Avidagos.

Quintas da Firvida, Torrão and Varanda are already included in the map of the wine country made by Baron de Forrester in the 19th century. In 1999, a wine cellar was built with the latest technological advances that allow the production of high quality wines. At the same time, the old Port wine warehouse was remodeled to also serve as a staging area for the barrels.

At the moment, Quinta dos Avidagos has an extensive range ranging from Avidagos White, Rosé and Red to Quinta dos Avidagos Reserva White, Rosé and Red, Quinta do Além Tanha Red and Quinta dos Avidagos Grande Reserva Red. Currently also with Port Wine.

The indigenous grape varieties, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz for the reds and Gouveio, Rabigato or Viosinho for the whites, allow us to obtain all the personality and character of the Douro “terroirs”.

Combining cutting-edge oenology with traditional foot treading, in granite mills, the objective is to produce wines of excellent quality, with an international profile and with the character of our land. The excellence of the wine culture, the use of traditional grape varieties as well as the structural and human conditions of the project, have constituted the secret of our success. The Douro is truly unique, singular. The wines have been highlighted by critics in terms of quality and sales, both nationally and in export markets, have been increasing.
