Description
Yesterday, today and Tomorrow. Five generations united by the same passion: celebrating a terroir favorable to Meunier and producing unique producer wines.
The history of our Domaine begins in the 1930s with the first purchase of vineyards in Festigny, one of the birthplaces of Meunier and the birthplace of Domaine Thierry Fournier.
Located on the left bank of the Marne Valley, and more specifically in the Flagot Valley, Festigny is a village with a very rich wine-growing tradition. Almost 200 hectares of vineyards dominate the village and its valley, today a reference for one of Champagne's famous grape varieties: Meunier.
The Marne Valley is known for its clay-limestone and marl-limestone soils containing a high percentage of clay. Although Festigny is located in the heart of the Marne Valley, its soils are more calcareous than other neighboring terroirs. Thus, this village boasts an unusual and unique terroir.
The Domaine's values are rooted in the close relationship between Thierry and his grandfather Henri, and in the symbiotic complementarity between Thierry and Murielle. Henri was a peasant committed to progress, continually seeking to improve and develop his vineyards.
Henri's determination and dedication, a vision that transcends several generations, permeates our daily decisions.
Our vineyards were made up of a few plots in the 1980s and, thirty years later, they are made up of 45 plots of Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, located in 11 villages, ranging from historic crus of the Marne Valley (Festigny, Leuvrigny, Oeuilly… ) to the Côte des Blancs area.
Today, our rich terroir and our different types of soils and subsoils allow us to produce champagnes with our signature. This drive makes us confident in the evolution towards more environmentally friendly winemaking techniques.
Caring and supportive, Thierry and Murielle Fournier maintain a unique experience, sculpting fundamental values such as tenacity, precision and humility for more than 30 years.
