Description
EPTUS is a recent and innovative project, led by an oenologist with the aim of producing excellent wines, developing all the organoleptic characteristics typical of a wine
of this wine region.
We have been producing wines since 1890, currently led by winemaker João Sobral, 6th generation of the Sobral family, we are in Soutelo do Douro.
João has always had a personal connection to the Douro and the vineyards, it was his great-great grandfather who bought the first Quinta, and started producing Port Wine for «Casas Inglesas».
The EPTUS project, a boy's dream, was created during the pandemic, the result of experience and knowledge accumulated over more than a decade.
The climate is Mediterranean and characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters. The average temperature is 20º C, with an average annual rainfall of 100 mm. The soil is essentially composed of shale, strongly laminated, rich in nutrients and with very little organic matter, retaining just enough moisture to allow the vine to survive throughout the summer, producing low amounts of extremely concentrated liquid in aromatic terms.
