Description
Founded in 1889, the Real Companhia Vinícola do Norte de Portugal, known in popular slang as the “Real Vinícola”, generated, at the time of its creation, enormous confusion between the two Royal Companies, the new and the Old Real Companhia dos Vinhos do Porto. . And it is through the voice of the people and commercial slang that Pombalina Real Companhia founded in 1756 begins to be known as “Real Companhia Velha” and to use this designation as a commercial brand.
The century-old Real Vinícola created under the auspices of the Marquês de Pombal became, over the years, a purely patrimonial company and was acquired by the renowned Fladgate Partnership, owner of major Port wine brands such as Taylor's.
