Esta garrafa foi inspirada no formato de “haste e globo” das primeiras garrafas de vinho inglesas. Essas garrafas esféricas eram predominantes em meados do século XVII e eram sopradas à boca em vez de feitas em moldes.
Nessa época, as garrafas inglesas eram feitas usando combustível de carvão, que gerava temperaturas mais altas do que os fornos de queima de madeira anteriores. Isso produzia garrafas mais fortes com lados mais grossos, que podiam ser usadas para armazenamento, bem como simplesmente como recipientes para servir. Na segunda metade do século XVII, a garrafa de “haste e globo” evoluiu gradualmente para a garrafa de “cebola”, em uso na época da fundação de Taylor em 1692, cujo gargalo era mais curto e o corpo mais atarracado.
Um núcleo profundo, marrom-avermelhado, é emoldurado por uma fina borda vermelho-tijolo. O nariz, rico e maduro, abre com aromas convidativos de café, caramelo e frutas secas, complementados por notas de ameixa e passas. Ao redor deste suntuoso coração estão delicadas camadas de especiarias, madeira e nozes, bem como sutis notas florais, oferecendo ao vinho uma complexidade refinada, intrincada e atraente. No paladar, é encorpado e denso, com uma textura suave e aveludada. Os sabores de caramelo indulgente e frutas em conserva permanecem, levando a um final longo e aconchegante. Este vinho é uma representação impressionante do artesanato tradicional de envelhecimento e mistura em barril, com cada elemento harmoniosamente integrado para realçar tanto o aroma quanto o sabor.

For many, Taylor's is the most illustrious wine producing house in Port and drinking its wines constitutes the most sublime of experiences.
Created more than three centuries ago, in 1692, Taylor's is one of the oldest Port wine trading houses dedicated exclusively to the production of Port wine and, especially, its best styles.
Above all, Taylor's is an independent company in which some family members play leadership roles in all areas of activity. The company's long and uninterrupted family tradition has allowed it to provide continuity and clarity of mission, both essential attributes of any great Port wine house. It also allowed us to improve the skills and knowledge necessary to produce the best Ports, which are constantly refined in light of the experience that is passed from generation to generation.
Taylor's is also respected as a producer of wood-aged Port wines and holds one of the largest reserves of rare cask-aged wines, of which the distinctive aged Tawny Port wines stand out. The house is also known as the creator of LBV (Late Bottled Vintage), a style that the company pioneered and of which it continues to be the main producer.
Successive generations, with their experience, have strived to improve their knowledge and ability to produce increasingly better Port wines.
