Description

It is in Velho Sobral that Cristina Simões, daughter of the company's founder, grows up with her grandparents, where she learns the art of the land, where she plays and especially where she discovers love, a love that continues to pour out with pride from her mouth but also from your heart, the love for Santar.

His dream begins with sacrifice, in the year 1997, a sacrifice that is palpable just by listening to the stories that Old Nelson has to offer us in an afternoon at his side, stories of vision, risk, love and reward.

Starting to annex land to his Velho Sobral, he also started reconstituting old vineyards with new plantations and built his winery in 2000, constantly evolving the technology and space at his service, and the investment in it allows him to encompassing in a single complex a winemaking area, aging cellars, laboratories, bottling line, visiting space, restaurant for events, tasting rooms, offices and, of course, a store with all the House's products.

All this in a space where the granite walls, the ancient tunnels and the iron gates, combined with a stunning landscape, give it the character, tradition and eloquence it deserves.

Quinta do Sobral currently has 15 hectares of vineyards in production and more than 20 hectares of forest, fundamental to the terroir of Dão Wine.

Returning to the sacrifices and commitment to this project, Cristina Simões, a teacher by profession, and Jorge Loureiro, hotel manager of a 5-star complex in England, form a passionate couple with common ideas. They embrace Nelson Simões' project and, realizing their dream, leave behind their perfectly established careers, for their family, for the love and belief of their father and father-in-law respectively, dedicating themselves exclusively to the Quinta do Sobral project.

This entry into the project gives a new direction and encouragement to it, seeking to position Quinta do Sobral as a reference brand in the national wine scene, with the insertion of know-how, new agricultural management methods and keen attention to the commercial area.

We thus reached the turning point at Quinta do Sobral, and don't think that it was the arrival of Cristina and Jorge to the project, no, it was precisely the arrival into the world of its most precious fruit, Maria, the daughter, the granddaughter and the soul of Quinta do Sobral.

Exuberant and overly heartfelt words we may think, but once again proof that its arrival is not just the enormous love it enjoys, it was the fact that the project stopped being thought of 20 years ago and started to be thought of 50 years ago. , it is therefore a paradigm shift.

This change is fundamental to all current decision-making that has

weight in the future, today the Simões family knows that their work of yesterday and today will be continued by their granddaughter Maria, who at the age of 4 forbade her grandfather to rip up some small old vines to plant new vines, taking possession of them, which today are the production stage for the most awarded and prestigious wine from Quinta do Sobral, Vinha da Neta of course.

This family is proof that undertaking requires a lot of personal sacrifice for the common benefit, it is proof that love truly breaks down barriers, it is proof that it is possible to live today with tomorrow in mind, even knowing that we will not be present, It's proof that believing takes work, but also immense pride, it's proof that it's worth evolving, learning and sharing, deep down, this family is proof that success and humility can go hand in hand.

And finally, as expected, we will continue to undertake, and new projects are coming, but these, of course, will be announced by Maria Simões, the Granddaughter.
