Description
In 2018, Ljubo could not resist the miracle of multiplication. After wine, beer, late-harvest and brandy, he decided to create the first Rum. Refugees is the name of the blend signed by Ljubomir Stanisic, aged for 2 years in the Licores Serrano warehouses, in Serra da Estrela. Made from sugar cane – originating from Syria, in ancient Persia –, it migrated along the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Spain, where it is distilled, and finally arrived in Portugal where it found refuge, a haven of shelter. After aging in French oak barrels, where whiskey, Portuguese sour cherries and Douro wine had previously passed, Refugees Rum was born.
A story told in bottles, all numbered, and illustrated by Mário Belém with images that take us to the Middle East. A story with a mission that especially touched the chef born in Sarajevo: supporting refugees, contributing to the possibility of a happier ending, with part of the sales proceeds going towards JRS – Jesuit Refugee Service –, an institution of reception and support for refugees in Portugal.
