James Martin's whiskey has a long and notable legacy. Named after its founder, boxer-turned-whiskey merchant James “Sparry” Martin, James Martin & Co was founded in the Port of Leith in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, in 1878. Within a few years, whiskeys Martin's premium products were winning prestigious medals at international exhibitions. Its whiskey was supplied to the British Royal House during the reign of King Edward in the early 1900s and served aboard luxury transatlantic ships, such as the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth, after the Second World War. Introduced in the 1950s, James Martin's premium 20 and 30 year old blends continued to be lauded into the 2000s – the 30 Years Old was awarded a gold medal from the judges at the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition in 2004. In 2020 , a rare 32-year-old limited edition was shared exclusively in Portugal, where some of the most passionate whiskey lovers can be found.
