Whiskey Tomatin Legacy 70cl

39,90

A single malt whiskey matured in a combination of Bourbon casks and virgin oak casks.

When the Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897, Tomatin's isolated and idyllic setting was almost perfect. However, there was no local labor; the local inhabitants were scattered shepherds and drovers. The company began a construction project to accommodate its workforce. Since then, the distillery has been at the heart of the community and the community at the heart of the distillery. This legacy has continued and Tomatin remains one of the few distilleries to house its dedicated artisans. Time in Bourbon barrels and virgin oak barrels brings a slight sweetness to The Tomatin Legacy, a peat-free whiskey that has aromas of vanilla bean, white chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate, gentle waves of fresh fruit flecked with ginger emerge before a light, clean finish.

Description

In 1892 it was announced that the final route of the Highland Railway would pass through Tomatin. With that, local resident John MacDougall, born and raised in Tomatin, began planning his distillery. The Tomatin Spey District Distillery was registered on 8 June 1897 but unfortunately closed in 1906.

Fortunately, the company was purchased by experienced wine and spirits merchants and reopened as New Tomatin Distillers Company Ltd. in 1909, bringing the distillery back into operation with 2 stills capable of producing 225,000 liters of alcohol per year.

But Tomatin's closure in 1985 stood out from the rest. Most distilleries that closed at this time were considered inefficient or outdated. Tomatin was not only the largest and most efficient malt distillery in Scotland, but it was also packed with cutting-edge technology.

As a result, it was not closed for long, and in February 1986, two Japanese companies, Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co., purchased the distillery to form Tomatin Distillery Co. Ltd., of which Takara Shuzo remains the majority shareholder. . until today.

The decision was made to remove some of our unused stills, reducing the total number from 23 to 12 (which remain in situ today), which marks the change in focus of the business from mass production to the blended Scotch whiskey market to the growth of our range of single malts.

Recognizing the excellent quality of our lightly peated single malt that we have produced for one week each year since 2005, the single malt brand Ass Bocan is released. With a focus on unusual barrel maturations, this brand has gone from strength to strength.

A change in packaging and a new marketing style have allowed the Tomatin Single Malt brand to really shine and more accurately reflect its well-deserved place in the crowded whiskey market. With a first-class wood policy, Tomatin has become known for taking whiskey lovers on an inimitable journey of aging and maturation in barrels, each packed with unique flavor and characteristics, whilst showcasing the classic style. from the Tomatin house; unpeated, light, soft and fruity.

The world has been through a lot in recent years and we continue to face uncertainty and unrest. But with the unity we've seen from our partners around the world, the dedication of our team, and the growing support of our loyal customers, we're reminded of what really matters. Our people matter. Our community matters. Our product matters. So we raise a toast to you from Tomatin. What matters.
