Description

It is the estate's reference wine, since the first harvest was bottled in 1949, and reflects the winery's unique temperament. Mouchão wine comes mainly from the best Alicante Bouschet grapes, while the remaining batch is found in the selection of other varieties such as the usual Trincadeira, from the famous Vinha dos Carapetos, and Aragonês, which is sometimes also invited. This happy combination results in a wine full of personality, with a fragrant, fresh and very elegant aroma.

After harvesting by hand, the grapes are sent in small baskets to the winery, where, after expert foot treading in stone lagares and fermentation, the Mouchão rests in barrels made of Portuguese oak, macacaúba and mahogany for at least three years. It thus grows in all its intensity, character and robustness, but will still have to mature in the bottle for another two years.
