Description

The history of Quinta do Infantado is long, since its creation in 1816. Founded by Infante D. Pedro, future King D. Pedro IV of Portugal and D. Pedro I of Brazil, it has been in the possession of the Roseira family for more than a century . It is located approximately 4km from Pinhão, in the unique terroir of Vale de Gontelho, a microregion that has long stood out for the quality of its wines.
For six generations, the “Roseira” of Covas do Douro has lived a life of vineyards and wines with passion and enthusiasm.
The first two generations only cultivated vineyards. With the purchase of Quinta do Infantado, João Lopes Roseira began producing fortified wine.
In 1979, his sons Luís and António, based on the concepts of terroir and vigneron, began bottling their Port Wines, making the family's dream come true. With this innovation, Quinta do Infantado became the farm grown and bottled of Port Wine, thus breaking the monopoly of dealers from Vila Nova de Gaia.
After the death of Luís and António, their heirs continue to search for the highest quality and maintain the path of innovation in tradition.
