The story of 100HECTARES wines begins in the early 1970s, when the Brás and Cigarro family – possessing a great passion for the Douro region – made significant investments in the purchase and renovation of properties located in the Baixo Corgo sub-region of the Douro. The family's farms are the origin of their wines, and production is made exclusively from grapes grown on their own land, something that is central to the family's production philosophy.
For some time, the majority of the production from their vineyards was sold to competitors in the region, but in 2009, André and Filipe Brás wanted to make the most of their own raw material production, vinifying an estimated 30% to 40% of the grapes. Some surplus production is given to producers in the region, and it is not yet possible to produce the entire amount under their own brand.
The duty to pass on the legacy from generation to generation is a feeling deeply rooted in the family.
