Seven Portuguese wine producers joined forces to meet the challenge posed by the Amália Rodrigues Foundation and produce a commemorative wine for the centenary of the artist's birth. The proceeds from the Amálias 100 wine will go to the Amália Rodrigues Foundation.
"With the aim of creating something unique – bigger than a brand or region – the idea was born to conceive a wine that would represent the country and immortalize the fado singer in the collective memory. The regions that best highlight Portugal in the quality of its red wines were selected, such as the Douro, the Dão, the upper and lower Alentejo, and Lisbon," the press release states.
In a "pioneering initiative that aims to give voice to the immensity of Amália," Rita Nabeiro (Adega Mayor), Francisca Van Zeller (Van Zellers & Co), Maria Manuel Maia (Poças), Luísa Amorim (Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo), Rita Pinto (Quinta do Pinto), Mafalda Guedes (Sogrape), and Catarina Vieira (Herdade do Rocim) joined forces to produce a "unique" wine.
This wine is accompanied by a limited edition box of 1,920 Magnum bottles, bottled from the combined will and sense of obligation of seven women who make wine their destiny, and from four regions: Douro, Dão, Alentejo and Lisbon.
