A passion for the land and for wine led the Lamas family to decide to try producing it. To that end, they always opted for excellence and meticulous attention to detail in their production. The decision to plant the Quinta das Bajancas vineyard was made in 1993, after studying the edaphoclimatic conditions of the location to determine the most suitable grape varieties. Following this study, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Francisca, and Tinta Amarela were chosen for the red wines, and Rabigato, Gouveio, Malvasia Fina, and Códega do Larinho for the white wines. The first planting took place on a 4-hectare plot on a south-facing mid-slope with known potential, called "bajancas". The vines were planted in early 1994, and for 10 years, the decision was made not to produce or bottle any quantities in order to favor only the vegetative development of the plant. In 2000, the second phase of vineyard planting was carried out on an additional 8 hectares, with the grape varieties Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Francisca, bringing Quinta das Bajancas to a total of 12 hectares of vineyards. In 2004, the decision was made to produce the first wine, and because we consider technical knowledge absolutely crucial to achieving our goals, we established a partnership with the winemaking company 2PR, which, like us, always opts for excellence and rigor in every detail, from production to marketing. The Quinta has the capacity to produce up to 48,000 bottles (750 ml), 41,000 of red wine and 7,000 of white wine, of a wine that has become known as Quinta Wine, meaning that the Quinta can only produce and bottle its own wines.
