Founded in 1946 by our grandfather Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos, the Vinhos Barbeito company has always been managed by members of our family.
At the time of its founding, there were over 30 companies producing and exporting Madeira wine. Step by step, our grandfather gained clients in many countries, always striving to build strong and close relationships with them. Some of our current clients and suppliers are still from his time.
In 1985, when our grandfather passed away, our mother, Manuela de Vasconcelos, took his place in managing the company, as she had already been working at Vinhos Barbeito since 1976.
One of our mother's most important tasks was to continue the work begun by Mário Barbeito, through regular visits to importers and attendance at trade fairs. Currently, close relationships with our clients and suppliers remain part of our philosophy.
