First of all, the location. Herdade Vale d'Évora is located a few kilometers from the beautiful village of Mértola, in the lower Alentejo region. It is integrated into the Guadiana Valley Natural Park, benefiting from a landscape marked by gently rolling terrain, native vegetation, and the Guadiana River that meanders through it. Throughout the property, totaling 550 hectares, are dotted plantations of stone pine, holm oaks, and strawberry trees, and a vineyard, the Discórdia vineyard.
Discórdia wines are produced from grapes harvested from a 10-hectare vineyard nestled in the wild landscape of Herdade Vale d'Évora. Like the Douro region, the schist soils and harsh climate mean the vines are constantly on the edge, struggling for survival, resulting in airy fruit with good concentration and structure. The proximity to the Guadiana River provides the touch of acidity that is important for the wine's final balance.
