When Mr. Dário decided to continue his father's art, he didn't just want it to bear fruit. Previous generations had already done so, marketing the local production of sour cherries, famous for their unparalleled quality, to supply the most renowned liqueur makers located (even today) in Lisbon and Alcobaça. He wanted to transform them into a noble product, far above average, without unnecessary additions and frivolities typical of the time, that era when artificial colorings were a trump card, proudly displayed in a gold seal on every label.

It was knowledge inherited through oral tradition. It was a burning passion for the land and everything that surrounds it in an embrace. It was the desire to see an entire culture reflected in the ruby ​​hues of the finest cherry liqueur. On this summit overlooking the Óbidos Lagoon lies an entire West. And it tastes of Portugal from another time.

Oppidum was born, with due humility, in 1987. It didn't grow with desires for grandeur, but rather with the refined palate of a public whose demands grow in the same measure as an ever-wider offering. But where singularity dwindles. That will always remain Oppidum's emblem. The best among the best. It's not gold. It's crimson.
