Herdade Grande is an agricultural property located approximately 5km from Vidigueira/Alentejo, with a total area of ​​350 hectares, of which 60 hectares are vineyards, 40 are olive groves, and the remainder is used for sheep grazing.
This property has belonged to the same family for about a century, having been acquired in 1920, when vineyards and olive groves were already cultivated there. The current owner, who graduated in Agronomic Engineering in 1970, was born there and is the manager and producer of the company's wines.
Together with neighboring properties, it forms a Tourist Hunting Reserve, covering 750 hectares.
The wine project began with the planting of vineyards in 1980 and winemaking in 1997, aiming to produce and market 350,000 to 400,000 bottles of wine, with 30% being white and 70% red.
In 2008, we began marketing our olive oil under the Herdade Grande brand, using service provision for this purpose.
The first vines of this project were planted in 1980. Since then, the 60 hectares of vineyards have been comprised of a great diversity of grape varieties, both national and international, selected with attention to their adaptability to our terroir and also with a view to preserving the typical characteristics of Alentejo wines. It is a commitment to quality, from grape to bottle.
