The company was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who managed the company until 1973. The management of MESSIAS is still, to this day, ensured by descendants of the Messias family.

Since its founding, MESSIAS has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde and Port wine. The company is also recognized for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and brandies.

MESSIAS' headquarters are located in Mealhada, a small town in the Bairrada region, where the company owns over 6,000 square meters of facilities and approximately 160 hectares of vineyards.

In Ferradosa, Douro Valley, MESSIAS owns 200 hectares, 130 of which are planted with vineyards for the production of Port wine and Quinta do Cachão Douro wine. Here are located facilities, covering more than 5,000 square meters, for the production, storage, and aging of wines.

The bottling of Port wine takes place in Vila Nova de Gaia, in an area of ​​approximately 10,000 square meters, which also houses a branch and a logistics center.

MESSIAS is one of the few groups that has a complete range of wine products from the best Portuguese regions and its own Quintas (estate).
