Quinta do Castelinho is located in São João da Pesqueira, more specifically on the left bank of the Douro River, opposite the Alegria train station, downstream from the Cachão da Valeira waterfall. It was acquired by the grandfather in 1964, even before the construction of the Valeira Dam, when it was only accessible on foot and by boat. He immediately decided to invest in converting the approximately 8 hectares of vineyards into the current 50 hectares of very high-quality vineyards, and to that end, he acquired plots adjacent to Quinta do Castelinho and literally transformed, by fire and sword, scrubland and rock into terraces, where noble grape varieties were planted.

Benefiting from schistous soil, which promotes excellent drainage and optimal irrigation of deep roots, even in dry weather, and an altitude difference ranging from 100 to 450 meters, allowing for a combination of the sweetness of grapes from lower altitudes with the freshness of grapes from higher altitudes, Quinta do Castelinho has all the conditions for producing excellent wines.

Currently, in addition to the 50 hectares of vineyards classified as grade A, where vines of the Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão varieties predominate, Quinta do Castelinho also has an area of ​​8 hectares of olive groves, from which one of the finest olive oils in the Douro is extracted, and 2 hectares of citrus orchard.
