Quinta das Peixotas comprises an area of ​​approximately 30 hectares and is located in northern Portugal, in the Douro Demarcated Region , south of the parish of Canelas, near the city of Peso da Régua – the capital of wine and vineyards.

This region is bathed by the Douro River (which flows into the city of Porto) and is internationally known for its DOC Douro wines, and especially for the famous Port wine.

The long tradition of viticulture is revealed in a landscape of exceptional beauty, highlighting the centuries-long work in building schist walls that extend along the slopes and contribute to the region's authenticity.

Boasting a very special terroir , the mid-slope Quinta das Peixotas has a viewpoint offering a magnificent landscape in the heart of the Douro wine region, where the vines are planted in schist soils and arranged in terraces.

The region benefits from a very particular microclimate, surrounded by mountains, with very hot and dry summers and harsh, prolonged winters with frequent frosts.

The soil, with its schistous base (with an average slope of 25%), is poor and dry, but benefits from excellent sun exposure, making it perfect for growing vines and olive trees.
The impermeability of the shale also allows for the accumulation of rainwater from the winter, to nourish the plant during the dry and very hot summer .
