Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a place of extreme beauty, in the heart of the Douro Valley, and has been owned by the Amorim family since 1999.
The family's connection to wine goes back a long way, through their link to exporting houses in Vila Nova de Gaia, via the cork business, but at that time this connection resulted in the realization of a dream and the project is now in the hands of the 4th generation of the family.

With a history spanning over 250 years, the farm boasts a well-preserved layout and the original winery building from 1764, following interventions by architect Arnaldo Barbosa. However, the estate predates 1764, and history confirms it as a large property belonging to the Portuguese Royal House, with its first owner identified in 1725. The winery vinified over 3,500 barrels of wine from neighboring plots and estates, and was immediately "integrated into the first demarcation of the region." The historical sites that are still preserved today reveal this significant historical importance.

The family's entrepreneurial and visionary spirit made all the difference, however, because, combined with a passionate commitment to the future, it determined the beginning of multiple changes towards a path of oenological excellence.
