A fortified house dating from the mid-17th century, within the typical sunny architecture of Alto Minho, in which two towers flank the lower and longer central body. It has a chapel and a romantic garden. The Serrade entailed estate was established by Father Dr. Belchior Barbosa. His successors and descendants were governors and captains-major of Monção and traveled through Mozambique and India. The headquarters of the border surveillance forces was established in Serrade (1801), under the command of the Marquis de la Rosière.
The Solar de Serrade, inaugurated by the Secretary of Commerce and Tourism, Dr. Jaime Andrez, on August 8, 1997, has since then received visits from the most important and diverse personalities.
TOURISM
At Solar de Serrade there is an important collection of furniture, tapestries and tableware, as well as an unusual collection of tiles.
Traditional coffered ceilings and living rooms with fireplaces invite tranquility and relaxation.
Solar de Serrade is a good example of the restoration of the architectural heritage of the Altominho region.
The care invested in providing a high degree of comfort includes, among other amenities, six double bedrooms and two suites. As we move through the interior of Solar de Serrade, we are surprisingly greeted by tranquil and tasteful corners.
