Growing up on a remote farm in Scotland, James and John Chivas were perfectly aware that the world around them was changing and that the idyllic landscape they called home was no longer big enough to contain their desire to make a difference.
After a three-day walk, the brothers arrived in Aberdeen. A city perfectly suited to their ambition.
Finding work in a large warehouse in Aberdeen, James was soon captivated by a new world of flavors and aromas. Everything seemed possible, and James quickly gained a reputation as someone capable of achieving the unattainable.
If they didn't have it in stock, they would find it. If they couldn't find it, they would create it.
When John joined the business, Chivas Brothers was born.
Chivas Brothers became famous for its exquisite luxury items, receiving orders from all over the globe. James Chivas received his first Royal Warrant in 1843, serving Queen Victoria at her country retreat in Balmoral.
This royal seal of approval provided Chivas Brothers with the perfect foundation to grow their ambition.
