As uvas que dão origem a este vinho são um “field blend” de vinhas velhas de mais altas da Quinta dos Castelares, em Freixo de Espada à Cinta, no Douro Superior, a uma altitude entre os 500-600 metros.

Com o objetivo de obter o equilíbrio necessário a um vinho que queremos encorpado, mas com perfil elegante. Solos de xisto, vinha em socalcos com orientação dominante Norte-Nascente.

Fronteira grande reserva é um vinho inspirado nos nossos antepassados, vinho com estagio de 18 meses em barricas Francesas e Americanas, que lhe transmite muita elegância. Castas típicas do Douro Vinhateiro, touriga nacional , touriga franca, tinta roriz e sousão.

In Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in 1953 Manuel Joaquim Caldeira is born. Son of farmers, dedicated to the land and cultivation. A son of the land who decided to never leave Freixo de Espada à Cinta behind. From a young age, he began his activity in the business sector, managing to buy and plant his first vineyard at the age of just 25. A childhood dream, which has grown to this day. He is currently one of the biggest ambassadors of the most Manueline village in Portugal, employing several families in his companies. With the determination and humility of a child, Manuel Caldeira, father of 2 children, after several years linked to the largest cooperative in the Region, decided in 2015 to build his first winery. This is how the Quinta dos Castelares project was born!
