Altapontuação Ltda. is a young company, created after applying for a young farmer project, with the goal of producing high-quality wines from grapes grown in the Douro demarcated region.
The farm that forms the basis of this project dates back to 1876 and covers approximately 5.5 hectares. Being a small area, it does not allow for large-scale production, although the quality is already proven. The estate is located in the parish of Celeirós do Douro, municipality of Sabrosa, at altitudes between 385 and 450 meters, with slopes mostly facing east and south. The vineyard is composed of plots of old vines over 50 years old and more than 20 grape varieties, and an area that has been restructured, 9 years old. The most important grape varieties are the red varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz; among the white varieties, exclusively in old vines, Malvasia Fina and Gouveio Real.
