Engenho Novo da Madeira is a young company focused on transforming sugarcane into agricultural rum under the William Hinton brand.
It was created in 2006 by one of the heirs of the Hinton family, owners of the largest sugarcane processing plant in Europe at the time – the Torreão Factory – from which he inherited the century-old column still, from which he still extracts rum today. Under the leadership of this new generation of entrepreneurs, the historical legacy of the Hinton brand has been reborn, and Madeira Rum is now its main focus.
Based on a policy of valuing the product and its roots, William Hinton Rum is today an undeniable benchmark, with products in more than twenty international markets. Experience, authenticity, innovation, and transparent communication are some of the values that govern the William Hinton brand. In 2018, it received the "Portuguese Product of the Year" award at Portugal's most prestigious spirits fair, the Lisbon Bar Show.
