MESSIAS was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who managed the company until his retirement in 1973. It then remained under the control of his family, who continue to lead the organization today.
Since its founding, MESSIAS has produced and marketed wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde and Port wine. The company is also recognized for the high quality of its natural sparkling wines and brandies.
The company headquarters are located in Mealhada, in the Bairrada region, and MESSIAS also owns three estates in the Bairrada, Douro, and Dão regions – Quinta do Valdoeiro, Quinta do Cachão, and Quinta do Penedo, respectively – totaling approximately 200 hectares of vineyards. The Port wine is bottled in Vila Nova de Gaia, in an area of approximately 10,000 square meters, where a branch and a logistics center are also located.
MESSIAS is one of the few groups that offers a complete range of wine products - still wines, sparkling wines, fortified wines and brandies - from the best Portuguese regions and its own Quintas (estate).
