The Lourinhã region, given its specific climate, proximity to the sea, soils, and topography, possesses a microclimate that makes it one of only three regions in the world (similar to Cognac and Armagnac) recognized as specifically for the production of high-quality grape brandies with a protected designation of origin.
Grape brandy is a natural product obtained from the distillation of wines, which, after a prolonged aging period in wooden casks, acquires a brownish hue and a unique complexity of aromas and flavors.
Quinta do Rol is located in the heart of the Lourinhã region and is currently the leading producer and owner of its own distillery.
The grape varieties Ugni Blanc, Malvasia Fina, and Alicante Bianco are cultivated and managed with the aim of obtaining wines with low alcohol content, high fixed acidity, and low pH.
The meticulously crafted wines are distilled immediately after the end of alcoholic fermentation, thus preserving their full organoleptic potential.
Next, the Quinta do Rol brandy is transferred to French oak casks (from the Allier and Limousin forests) and Portuguese oak casks, where it ages for more than 10 years.
It is the combination of these different woods and different contact periods that allows for the production of this exquisite, unique, and unparalleled brandy.
