Quinta das Arcas was established in the 1980s by Esteves Monteiro, following work begun in the previous decade to restructure the family's agriculture, with a strong focus on land consolidation and the implementation of modern viticulture. In 1985 he founded the company, launching the first bottles under the Arca Nova brand at that time.
Throughout this time, the company has paid special attention to the production area, following from the beginning a path of quality improvement while minimizing the impact on nature. In 2012, and already with around 200 hectares of vineyards in the Vinho Verde region, Quinta das Arcas launched its first organic wine on the market.
