With approximately 600 hectares spread across five estates, Casa de Arrochella is part of the new generation of producers of DOC Douro wines and DOP Trás-os-Montes olive oils. A descendant and successor of Nicolau de Arrochella Moraes e Castro Pimentel, 1st Count of Arrochella, Bernardo Alegria is the driving force behind this project in the Upper Douro region, which now encompasses over 115 hectares of vineyards. He sought to combine the history of Casa de Arrochella's important ties to the Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region with his passion and dedication to the Douro. All wine and olive oil production takes place in the Upper Douro sub-region, between Vila Flor, Torre de Moncorvo, and Foz Côa.
