CASA de MOURAZ was born in 2000. That year we traded Lisbon for Mouraz, in the heart of the Dão region, immersing ourselves in what became our family adventure: our sustainable viticulture project and the production of authentic and natural wines that respect and express all the richness of their terroir of origin.
Mouraz is António's birthplace, a village where his family has been cultivating vines holistically and ecologically for generations.
The farm is spread across several vineyard plots with different soils, altitudes, and surroundings, totaling 25 hectares of land. Old vines, around 50 years old, and newly planted vines coexist with a forest of pine, oak, chestnut, and cork oak trees, in a landscape marked by gentle hills carved by small streams. Granite predominates in the soils, and altitudes vary between 200 and 400 meters. The grape varieties are exclusively Portuguese, with a predominance of typical Dão varieties such as Touriga-Nacional, Tinta-Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Água-Santa, or Baga (in the reds), Encruzado, Malvasia-Fina, Bical, and Cerceal (in the whites).
