The history of Casa de Vilacetinho can be intertwined with the history of Vinho Verde itself. Located in the parish of Alpendurada, in the municipality of Marco de Canavezes, it is one of the oldest brands in the region, holding important milestones in the history of Portuguese wines. Going back in time, Vilacetinho could be considered a "giant" when compared to the structure of other Douro properties, due to the union of two ancient estates that, for centuries since the Middle Ages, were part of the landholdings of the Benedictine Monastery of Alpendurada.
At that time, it was little more than a hundred hectares of farmland, on flat terrain, right next to the Douro River – a kind of large estate in a region characterized by smallholdings. One of its highlights was the elegant Casa de Vilacetinho, an authentic small Douro manor house from the 17th and 18th centuries, surrounded by an erudite garden that separates the house from the vineyards and the rest of the agricultural area.
Quinta de Vilacetinho, due to its size, is a unique property within the region where it is located, standing out for its exceptional agricultural characteristics. This results in unique wines, true reflections of the distinct terroir that gives them life. Different, refined wines, with a certain Champagne-like quality.
