The modern Maison of Veuve Clicquot owns one of the finest champagne vineyards, both in terms of size and quality of its vines. Its 390 hectares are divided among 12 of the 17 Grands Crus and 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus that make up the entire Champagne region.
This exceptional heritage was built over centuries, based on the plots initially established by the founder, and expanded upon by subsequent vineyard directors.
In particular, Veuve Clicquot bears the fortuitous territorial mark of Madame Clicquot.

While the latter represents only a quarter of the total vineyard area in the entire Champagne region, the grape variety of each plot is determined by assessing its soil, climate, and exposure. The Veuve Clicquot vineyard is composed of 47% Chardonnay grapes, 36% Pinot Noir, and 17% Pinot Meunier. The Clicquot vines are located primarily on gentle slopes, allowing the vines to benefit from shallow soils and maximum sun exposure. Since its foundation, the Maison of Veuve Clicquot has also forged a strong partnership with its fellow winemakers in Champagne. These suppliers of grapes and white wines help ensure the consistent quality of Veuve Clicquot wines.

Spread across a rolling hills, the Veuve Clicquot vineyards are ideally positioned to receive sunlight. These zones are defined according to key AOC criteria, outlining sun exposure, slope, soil, and subsoil. A north-facing position leaves the vineyards exposed to climatic variations such as frosts and winter or spring weather, causing unfertilized grapes or grape drop, but can also result in moderate rainfall and temperatures, with temperate summer and autumn seasons.
