VINILOURENÇO is based in the Upper Douro region, in the village of Poço do Canto, near the city of Meda. It was created with the mission of transforming and revitalizing the production of the vineyards that began to be planted in the 1980s by Horácio Lourenço, after his return from Angola. His passion for winemaking led him to diligently develop his estate. The existing 45 hectares do not fit the concept of a single "Quinta" (estate) due to their different locations: Poço do Canto, Vale da Teja, and Pocinho. The disadvantage of higher production costs is balanced by greater diversity, allowing for maximum benefit from the properties as a whole, with altitudes ranging from 180m to 700m. The soils are schist in the lower areas and schist/granite in the higher areas. The differences in climate, location, altitude, and soil, combined with the same grape varieties planted in different territories, allow for the creation of distinct wines, avoiding common standardization. Starting in 2006, Jorge Lourenço created VINILOUREÇO with the invaluable help of his father, Horácio Lourenço.
