The Hehn family has been linked for many years to the Távora-Varosa region, the quintessential sparkling wine region of Portugal. From here, and from our German origins, comes our passion for sparkling wines.
The wines are produced at Quinta da Seara, São Cosmado, Armamar. Situated on the slopes of the Tedo River, which flows into the Douro, facing southeast and at an altitude of 700 meters, this property constitutes a unique terroir for the production of white and sparkling wines. The farm has been in the family for several generations, and I, the current owner, viticulturist and winemaker, Marcos Hehn Pinto da Silva, am the fourth generation. The first vintage we bottled was in 2005, and we know today, after 13 years, that the wines from these highlands south of the Douro have incredible aging potential. We use the region's traditional white and red grape varieties, of which we highlight Cerceal Branco and Gouveio, but we also wanted to show that our land welcomes foreign varieties well. Therefore, and also honoring our German origins, we planted Riesling from the Mosel, which has given us much pleasure.
