Region Alentejo

The Herdade do Arrepiado Velho estate is located in Sousel, about 40 km from Portalegre, in the Alto Alentejo region. In 2001, a long-abandoned space was reborn. The 19th-century Alentejo farmhouse was rebuilt according to the region's traditional architecture, magnificently preserved, and full of spaces of rare beauty. With a total area of approximately 100 hectares, the dam stands out among vineyards and olive groves, in a mix of colors and tranquility, as only the Alentejo offers.

In 2002, 33 hectares of vineyards were planted from scratch in a terroir that uniquely combines schist soils on steep slopes with mild temperatures and abundant water – natural characteristics indicative of great potential. David Both (viticulturist) and António Maçanita (oenologist) combined their knowledge, innovation, and dedication, selected the grape varieties, and created what is now known as the "100-point Vineyard". From 2012 onwards, the vineyard has been managed by Nuno Ramalho, the current viticulturist. The reds are Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the whites are Antão Vaz, Chardonnay, Riesling, Viognier, and Verdelho.

At the helm of the project is António Antunes, responsible for producing unique and seductive wines, born from modern winemaking combined with tradition, and Marta Neto, responsible for marketing and bold, elegant design. Together they break down barriers and preconceived ideas, making wines outside the box but always with quality at the forefront of their ambitions.
