Located in Crato, Portalegre, nestled against the slopes of the Serra de S. Mamede mountain range, with its granitic soil and adorned with free-roaming deer, this Alentejo hill gives rise to a unique place for the production of distinctive, high-quality wines. The planting of the first 4.5-hectare vineyard began in 2009, with Alicante Bouschet and Syrah varieties dominating the soil.

In 2010, the second vineyard was planted, covering 4 hectares, focusing on Touriga Nacional, a red grape variety considered one of the noblest and most demanding in Portugal. Touriga Nacional has been an "ambassador of our country" due to its ability to adapt to climate change. Also in 2010, from the carefully selected blend of grape varieties, Touriga Franca stood out, a variety originating from France and strongly associated with the production of fortified wines.

Herdade da Rocha reinforced its vineyard planting in 2011 with Arinto, a very versatile grape variety cultivated in almost all wine regions due to its good adaptation to all climates. Alvarinho, considered one of the noblest Portuguese white grape varieties, is also planted, producing a wine of pronounced freshness and very high quality.
