Syrah by Julia Kemper Organic Red Wine 2012 75cl

Quinta do Cruzeiro is the name given to the diverse "terroirs" found in the eleven vineyard plots surrounded by forest and olive groves, all belonging to the same family since ancient times and throughout the centuries.

The winemaking vocation of Quinta do Cruzeiro is lost in its foundation: there is evidence of excellence even further removed from the wine that has always been produced here, whether through the memory of the oral tradition that goes back to the wine press of the Cipreste vineyard (of Casa da Balsa) which makes us dream of the Middle Ages – or even older, the Roman civilization that the Roman settlement next door, in Mangualde, proves.

We have adopted a natural, essentially organic and also biodynamic agricultural approach – making use of the same philosophy and knowledge that we have derived from Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophical homeopathy.

Like our most distant ancestors, we believe in the balance and biodiversity of Nature and want to participate in them.

We cultivate and care with love and intelligence – the hallmark of our agriculture; our know-how is a practice of ancestral coexistence and balance, taking advantage of the techné (technique) of the ancients and the scientific understanding of the why and, therefore, the ability to reproduce rigorously, with the ultimate goal of presenting an elegant wine, with delicious acidity, floral aromas and an incredible texture.
