Founded in 1849 by Adolphe and Edouard-Jean Cointreau in Angers, France, Cointreau was born from the desire to create a spirit that took advantage of the exceptional quality of local fruits. In 1875, after numerous experiments, the iconic orange liqueur finally emerged, presented in its distinctive square amber bottle.
Cointreau is a brand of Triple Sec liqueur. The oranges used in its production come from all over the world, especially Brazil and the United States. Besides being consumed as a digestif and aperitif, it is also widely used in cooking.
