The beauty of the Alentejo plains, its culture, hunting, and rich gastronomic tradition make Estremoz a captivating region. Founded in 1258 by King Afonso III, it was home to King Dinis, and Vasco da Gama was appointed Commander during his voyage to India. Located in the heart of the Alto Alentejo, the soils, derived from schist and clay-limestone, along with the continental climate, allow for minimal fluctuations in quality and rain-free harvests – ideal conditions for exceptional winemaking. This was the location chosen by João Portugal Ramos to produce his own wines, following a long career as a consulting oenologist in the creation of wines in Portugal's main wine regions.
