The beginning of this artisanal process takes place in a small, simple regional kitchen in the village of Alvarenga, where small vats containing infusions of pomace brandy from Vinho Verde were macerated with fruit and spices. Pinguça found a major boost when, after only one year of existence, it won the National Prize for Creative Rural Industry; it was then that Portugal became acquainted with Pinguça.
Today, Pinguça boasts a home that reflects its image: the Eduardo Noronha Dias distillery. A building with unconventional lines nestled within the rural landscape where it still stands. This building houses all production, bottling, and shipping operations, as well as the entire program of visits to the facility.
