Vidigal Wines is a medium-sized, family-run company that produces still and fortified wines, located in the Leiria region of Central Portugal. The company's origins date back to the beginning of the 20th century, on a farm founded by a Canon of the Church. Over the last century, the company had a couple of owners until, in the early 1990s, the current Director, António Mendes Lopes, took over management. Since then, Vidigal has undergone significant changes and technological advancements that now allow it to produce around 3 million bottles per year.

Currently, Vidigal is divided between 40% Norwegian capital and 60% owned by the Director, who holds dual Portuguese-Danish nationality, António Mendes Lopes. AM Lopes has over 30 years of experience in the wine world. He created and developed an international wine import company in Denmark. Through his role as an importer, he gained extensive experience and knowledge about wines from various parts of the world. António Mendes Lopes actively participates in the winemaking process alongside two winemakers: António Ventura, considered the winemaker of the year in Portugal in 2006, and Rafael Neuparth.

With an export rate of around 90%, Vidigal had the best-selling wine in Norway for five consecutive years, a feat never before achieved by any Portuguese product anywhere in the world. Selling around 40 wines in more than 30 countries, Vidigal is certainly one of the most international wine companies in Portugal.

In terms of production, Vidigal Wines has established several partnerships in the Lisbon wine region, representing a total of approximately 450 hectares of vineyards. It also maintains various partnerships in other wine-producing regions of Portugal, totaling 7 regions: Lisbon, Tejo, Douro, Alentejo, Dão, Beiras, and Vinho Verde.

The vast majority of Vidigal wines, particularly those from the Lisbon wine region, are produced very close to the Atlantic Ocean – about 30km away – and, as such, are greatly influenced by the Atlantic breezes, resulting in fresh and consistently fruity wines. The main grape varieties used in Vidigal wines are: Touriga Nacional, Aragonez (Tinta Roriz), Castelão, Syrah and Cabernet.
