Quinta do Cachão is located on the banks of the Douro River, in Cima Corgo, the most inhospitable, ancient, deep and beautiful region to which the river lends its name. This vineyard was first planted in 1845 by the Baron of Seixo, and was later acquired by the Afonso Cabral family, who in turn sold it to the Messias family in 1956. In order to increase its production, Messias acquired an adjacent property in 1958, Quinta do Rei, then owned by Gonzalez Byass.
