Quinta da Rede, located in the parish of Santa Cristina, has its oldest historical records dating back to 1484, thus being part of the Douro wine region even before the demarcation of 1756, carried out by the Marquis of Pombal and under the decree of King D. José I.
The Quinta overlooks the Douro River, on its right bank, between Mesão Frio and Régua, at an altitude of between 90 and 140 meters. It is known for being the place where fishing nets (meaning of the Rede) were once stretched from one side of the Douro River to the other, long before the construction of the dams that altered its natural course.
Its magnificent wine-growing landscape is located within the Douro region, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
