Quinta da Vacaria is one of the oldest estates in the Douro region.
History tells us that the wine produced on the farm dates back to 1616, four centuries ago.
Their wines, transported on rabelo boats to Vila Nova de Gaia, lost their identity, but never ceased to be prestigious.
It is with immense pride that the Quinta now boasts one of the largest and most valuable vintage Port wines, bottled only in 2016 at its origin with its own brand and producer's seal.
Traveling along the banks of the Corgo and Douro rivers, it is a pleasure to contemplate the poetic beauty of our vineyards, and observing them reveals that our agriculture is based on respect for the soil, plants, and surrounding ecosystems.
Quinta da Vacaria is located in Baixo Corgo, between the banks of the Corgo and Douro rivers, on the eastern edge of Peso da Régua.
In older documentation, it is described in these terms:
"It was 16 leagues from this city (Porto), near the Douro River, from the Trás-os-Montes bridge, 3 leagues from Vila Real, within the boundaries of Vila de Canellas."
